Rencontre avec Wespa et Jorina !

interview Wespa Jorina

Hi ! I’m Lylyth, Mulhouse Gaming’s Community Manager, in charge of creating content. For the viewers to know the organization better, we decided to interview the two founding members, Wespa and Jorina.

To begin with, can you introduce yourselves ?

J: Jorina, 37yo, founder member, ex-secretary for Mulhouse Gaming, and now Vice-Treasurer. Huge fan of the “Sims 3” and 4, and the Sims in general. 2017, I got really interested in Esport, but especially League of Legends’s Esport. But now, having a family to take care of, I have less time to dedicate to Esport. I’m in charge of a stand at the ASPTT Volley when they play home from 6pm to 8pm. We initiate people to Esport, League of Legends, Fortnite, Rocket League and others. But not only that, we also did a mini Mario Kart Tournament. Other than the Sims, I really like board games, like Warhammer 40 000, which is a figurine game. You paint your figurines and board and play with it. I am the first woman to participate in a huge Warhammer tournament in 2005 and 2007 which took place in Hohwald.

W : Wespa, 39 yo, Founding President, now Treasurer, also manager of a Silver/Gold League of Legends team named Lilbär/Shockwave. The team is participating in a Spanish online league at the moment. I took a big interest in League of Legends, some time ago, CS:GO also. I’m quite athletic also, soon I’ll be running in a marathon.

Can we go back to the beginning of the organization ? Tell us about the origins and why you decided to create it

W : It all started in 2015, when I was still living in Lyon. I started to get interested in Esport. So when I got back to Alsace, I wanted to create an Organization in Mulhouse. I wanted people from every rank to be able to access Esport level training. So I started to look for people who wanted to be part of the adventure. After finding 7 people, it was the beginning of Mulhouse Gaming. I’ve already seen some “virtual” organizations, but they lacked “something”. My wish was really to create something, where people could meet up, do events, and receive in real life “coaching”. For now, we have a small local community in Mulhouse. That’s why we do things like animating the stand at the ASPTT Volley and 2 to 3 conventions in Mulhouse or Colmar, we try to recruit locally. In the meantime, we found “Origin Info System” , a software shop in Bollwiller who kindly sponsors us. Thanks to us, we were able to offer better activities on our stand and develop Mulhouse Gaming better.
The goal was to create a community of friends who play together at the end of the day. Everybody is welcome here.

Can you explain your role as Treasurer in the organization ?
J: So, a Treasurer is someone who manages the finances, so there are accounting, financial records to give to the AG. This personne handles the budget for the year and the next year, as well as external fundings.

Your favorite memory ?
W: Colmar Esport Show (January 2020), we met PADG (Pierre-Olivier de Garrigues) Hearthstone’s innkeeper’s voice actor. It was really fun.

J: We were managing the League of Legends Tournament, the players were picking and banning champions, when suddently the voice actor started to speak with the voice of one of the champions the players had just picked. We were stunned, everybody was impressed!

W: Another big moment was the PG Series 2019. One of our teams arrived 3rd at a tournament, and seeing “Mulhouse Gaming” on the podium was touching. Seeing Eisbär 2nd at the Nantarena last December was also a moving moment.

Thank you! To conclude this interview, can you talk about your favorite games or recommend one to the viewers .

J : With our kids we play Pokemon both with cards and on tablets. When you buy a booster, there is a QR code which makes you get a booster on your online account. The online game has the same mechanics as the game cards.

W: Games that are dear to my heart are RTS (Real-Time Strategy) type of games, like StarCraft. I spent a lot of time playing “Command & Conquer”. These are old games, 1990-2000, around that time. And Unreal Tournament, it’s like the ancestor of CS:GO and Overwatch but solo.

Many thanks again to Wespa and Jorina for giving me a bit of their time and for answering my questions. I enjoyed doing this interview and I hope you enjoyed reading this article too. I hope it showed you the core of the organization.
